He co-founded and sold an IT security company in the early Internet days, keeping an adaptive mindset through the series of corporate leadership positions that followed. After a decade in the IT security industry, he pivoted to the challenging yet rewarding online travel sector. In his years at HomeAway, he developed one of the most successful double-sided marketplaces in the industry by combining a corporate buy and build a strategy with a meticulous focus on perfecting the product experience for supply and demand.
As CEO of Leisure Group, Tobias' focus was to deliver a technology-led, hassle-free experience for vacation homeowners and guests. For this, he combined the best of two worlds - fast-growing digital commerce and heartfelt human hospitality. Within years, they became one of the top 3 companies globally in the managed vacation rental sector and their success attracted OYO, who acquired them in 2019. This merger made sense - Tobias witnessed that Leisure Group’s culture and strength opened doors to opportunity and had a lot to contribute to OYO’s positive growth - and vice versa.
